What Affects The Price of a Steel Roof
- Material and profile. Standing seam is a premium look with hidden fasteners. Metal shingle offers a classic look with steel strength.
- Roof size and shape. Larger or more complex roofs require more labour.
- Tear off and deck repair. If the old roof must come off, labour and disposal costs rise.
- Flashing and details. Chimneys, valleys, and skylights take more time to seal.
Other Factors Affecting Steel Roof Prices In Ontario:
Apart from the size, slope, and shape of your roofing project there are a few non-roofing factors which also changes the price. These are scenarios which are out of the installers control for the most part but must be accounted for. For example:
- Seasonality: Roofing costs vary each season. Spring and summer months will command a premium price compared to winter and fall.
- Location of Install: Ontario is a huge area to cover. If your install is located in the far north, there will be an increased price to it. Furthermore, if it’s off road, you should contact your metal roofing installer to let them know as not all their vehicles can access off-road locations. Fortunately, Hy-Grade’s fleet of 4×4 vehicles can pretty much install anywhere.
- Demand: Ontario can experience extreme weather on occasion, which increases the demand for roofers across the province. Surges in windstorms, hail, or tornadoes will also drastically affect the price. In our Metal Roofing Calculator, we do not account for this; however, please keep it in mind!
- Contractor Insurance: Rates for insuring contractors have risen throughout the years and are also a largely overlooked factor in the calculation of metal roof costs. Keep this in mind if you’re holding off on purchasing that metal roof. These rates rise each year in Ontario.
