With her magnetic personality, Linda loves nothing more than meeting new people and adding them to her long list of amazing customers – and trust us, that list is impressive! Meet Kwaku Sarpong, our Service Technician and resident Wednesday-born chief! Nicknamed “young chief,” Kwaku brings a lighthearted and jovial attitude to the job. He loves to joke around, so don’t be surprised if you hear some playful banter during his visit.
While he may have a playful side, Kwaku is also a skilled and dedicated Service Technician. He joined the Hy-Grade Steel Roofing team in 2022, and since then, he has been an integral part of ensuring our customers receive the highest quality service. Kwaku is always ready to go above and beyond for our clients and is committed to ensuring their satisfaction.
Outside of work, Kwaku enjoys spending time with his family and friends. As a self-proclaimed flat-earther (yes, they still exist!), he has some interesting theories about the world around us, but he always keeps an open mind and is eager to learn from others. Whether he’s at work or play, Kwaku is always ready to take on a new challenge with a smile on his face and a positive attitude.

Steve Bakker is a Roofing Consultant who’s been with our company since 2008. Outside of work, Steve is a family man who also runs his own dairy farm. Despite his busy schedule, he always makes time for his favorite hockey team, the Ottawa Senators.
What sets Steve apart is his down-to-earth personality and easy-going nature. He’s the type of guy who you can strike up a conversation with and immediately feel comfortable around. When Steve is in charge of a project, you know it will be done with diligence and care, because that’s just the kind of person he is. John Rahal is a Roofing Consultant at our company who joined us in 2018. He’s got a big family, with 6 children and 3 grandchildren, which keeps him busy outside of work. He’s also a cat person and is the proud owner of a feline friend named Homee. When he’s not spending time with family or his cat, John likes to hit the links and boasts a golf score of 75. He’s also a fan of Florida vacations and can often be found playing ping pong or Texas hold’em poker with friends.

Colin McGroarty is a Roofing Consultant who joined our team in 2021. With 17 years of experience under his belt, Colin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. He lives in Guelph with his furry family of a dog and two cats.
When Colin isn’t working hard to close deals, you can find him coaching minor hockey. He’s passionate about sharing his love of the game with the next generation of players.
One of Colin’s unique quirks is his love for radio jingles. Whether it’s the catchy tune of a local business or a national brand, he can’t get enough of those earworms.

Rhonda Chuhran, Roofing Consultant
Meet Rhonda Chuhran, our Roofing Consultant with more energy than a room full of seven-year-olds. With seven kids and eight grandkids, Rhonda’s got youth on her side and a personality to match. She’s a true firecracker, with a contagious energy that can turn any sales meeting into a party.
When she’s not out closing deals and making new connections, Rhonda loves spending time with her family and volunteer work. Her Church is a huge part of her life as is hosting get togethers with her many lifelong friends. Her youthful spirit is an inspiration to us all, and we’re lucky to have her on our team.
JP Woodburn is a Roofing Consultant who joined our team in 2023. With over 30 years of experience in residential construction, JP is an expert in the field. He started as a house framer and worked his way up to site supervisor, specializing in renovations.
As a native landowner, JP has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loves to spend his free time fishing, hunting, and exploring nature. He’s also a huge sports fan, following his favorite teams religiously and even playing in local leagues when he has the chance.
JP’s vast knowledge of residential construction and his passion for the outdoors make him a valuable member of our team. We’re thrilled to have him on board and excited to see what he’ll achieve in his role as a Roofing Consultant.
Kevin Culhane is a Sales Manager who joined our team as a Roofing Consultant in early 2023. Before joining our team, Kevin worked in the banking industry, and he also served as an executive director of a not-for-profit organization. Over the past decade, Kevin has been an active member of several boards of directors.
In his free time, Kevin is a sports lover who enjoys watching games, even more than playing these days. He’s always up for a conversation about the latest game, and he loves to share his insights and opinions with others.
As the proud father of two teenagers, Kevin is a natural at problem-solving and thinking on his feet. He knows how to stay calm and focused under pressure, which makes him a valuable asset to our team.

Let’s meet Paul Wolffe, our go-to guy for maintenance here at Hy-Grade! Paul joined our team back in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience as a licensed millwright since the 1990s. When it comes to fixing things, Paul is the man with a plan! Born and raised in the vibrant city of Kitchener, Ontario, Paul has always been a proud local. He knows the ins and outs of the area like the back of his hand and loves being part of the community. You’ll often find him sharing stories and recommendations about the best spots in town.
Now, let’s talk about Paul’s motto: “Equine and canine reign supreme! The rest can serve mankind.” That’s right, Paul has a deep appreciation for our four-legged friends. Whether it’s horses or dogs, he believes they bring so much joy and loyalty to our lives. You can always count on Paul to share interesting facts and anecdotes about our furry companions.
And here’s a fun fact about Paul – he’s had his iconic handlebar mustache since he was just 15 years old! It’s become his signature look and a conversation starter wherever he goes. It’s a testament to his timeless style and dedication to keeping traditions alive.

Meet Katarina Borrias-Spitzig, the lively and passionate Office Assistant at Hy-Grade! Hired in 2020, she’s quickly become a valued member of the team, working in both Marketing and Accounting departments. Did you know that Katarina is working towards her Bachelor of Accounting at Brock University, and is set to graduate in 2023? She’s a talented and driven individual, that’s for sure!
Katarina is a true local, having lived in Cambridge her entire life. When she’s not busy with her studies or working hard at Hy-Grade, you can find her exploring the great outdoors with her two adorable puppies. And if you’re lucky, she might even show you a picture of her hedgehog named Snuffles! Katarina is also recently engaged to her high school sweetheart, which has been keeping her quite busy with wedding planning.
With her friendly personality and can-do attitude, Katarina is always ready to lend a helping hand and brighten up your day.
Meet Tanya Lea, the newest addition to Hy-Grade’s team as a Digital Marketing Manager! Tanya has had an impressive 25-year career in marketing and customer service. She’s always had a passion for understanding customers’ needs and using creative ways to meet them.
But that’s not all – Tanya is a die-hard NFL addict! She’s on a mission to attend games of all 32 teams in her lifetime, and so far, she’s been to 18 stadiums. Tanya can’t get enough of the excitement of game day!
When she’s not busy watching football or working, Tanya’s fostering dogs and helping to train them before they find their forever homes. It’s her way of giving back to her furry friends, and she finds it incredibly rewarding. Tanya has always loved animals and even has two pet rabbits at home. And yes, her rabbits like dogs!
We’re thrilled to have Tanya as part of the Hy-Grade family and can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to the team!
Meet Carin Brown, the administrative assistant with a passion for hiking and roofing! Hired in 2022, Carin brings her years of experience in the financial sector to Hy-Grade, where she now manages administrative tasks with ease. When she’s not busy at work, you can find Carin exploring the surrounding trails with her dog and cat in tow. With two adult children and eight grandkids, Carin’s got plenty of love to go around and she enjoys spending time with her family whenever she can.
Now, let’s talk about Carin’s interesting hobby. You might be surprised to learn that she enjoys looking at roofs on homes! That’s right, Carin has a keen eye for roofing and loves to admire the craftsmanship and style of different rooftops. Who knew that such an everyday thing could be so fascinating? Maybe she’s onto something, and we should all take a closer look at the roofs above our heads. All we know is that Carin’s passion for roofing is as strong as her love for her morning cup of coffee.
Jennifer Parry has been a valued member of our team since 2012, serving as an Accounting Assistant. Known for her kind-hearted and empathic nature, Jennifer is a soft-spoken but passionate individual who always goes the extra mile for her colleagues.
When she’s not busy crunching numbers, Jennifer’s obsession with penguins takes over. She loves everything about them, from their adorable waddles to their cute little tuxedo-like feathers. In fact, she’s been known to keep a small penguin figurine on her desk for inspiration.In addition to her love for penguins, Jennifer has a fondness for all things Coca Cola. She collects everything from vintage bottles to limited edition cans, and her desk is adorned with various Coca Cola-themed trinkets.
Jennifer’s unique combination of a big heart, a passion for penguins, and a love for Coca Cola makes her an invaluable member of our team. We’re lucky to have her on board as an Accounting Assistant and look forward to her continued contributions to our company.
Ryan Anderson is more than just a delivery driver at Hy-Grade. He’s a talented musician who loves to play guitar whenever he has a chance. Ryan is also a devoted family man and has a wife and one child that he adores.
Before working at Hy-Grade, Ryan spent some time working in a tattoo shop, where he even tattooed himself. He’s an artist at heart and is always looking for new ways to express his creativity. One of his current projects is teaching himself about the benefits of artificial intelligence and how it can be used to enhance his art.
Ryan’s outgoing and lively personality is contagious, and he never fails to bring energy and excitement to any room he enters. It’s no wonder that he’s such a popular member of the Hy-Grade team!
Lukas Ramsdale is the man in charge when it comes to service at Hy-Grade Steel Roofing. As the Service Manager, he’s the go-to guy for any issues or concerns with your roof. When he’s not hard at work, he’s enjoying his newlywed bliss with his wife and their newborn son. And yes, he’s not getting much sleep these days due to the little one, but he’s still giving his all at work.
When he does have some free time, Lukas loves to golf. He’s always up for a round, rain or shine. He’s also quite the sandwich-making connoisseur, which means he knows how to stack his bread just right. But don’t ask him the colours of the cold cuts – he’s colourblind, and he’ll be the first to admit that he sometimes gets them mixed up. Nevertheless, he doesn’t let that slow him down as Sandwich King and being the best Service Manager he can be.
Meet the man who’s been with Hy-Grade since forever: Ryan Ware. As the Chief Executive Officer, he’s come a long way since his days of sweeping the floors and making coffee. Being the son of the owner has given Ryan a unique perspective on the company, and he’s dedicated to maintaining its reputation for quality and excellence.
When Ryan’s not running the show, you’ll find him spending time with his family. He’s got a lovely wife and two adorable kids who keep him on his toes. Ryan’s a big fan of the great outdoors, and he loves nothing more than exploring the waterways of Ontario on a canoe trip with his family. In fact, they make it an annual tradition to spend Thanksgiving in Algonquin Park, enjoying the fall colours and the crisp autumn air.
Ryan’s always been a hands-on kind of guy, and that hasn’t changed now that he’s at the top of the ladder. He’s proud to have worked every job at Hy-Grade, from sales to installation, and he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty when needed. So whether you’re a long-time customer or a new face, rest assured that Ryan and the entire Hy-Grade team are committed to providing you with the best service and products around.
Scott Millar has been delivering our steel roofing with precision since 2008. When he’s not on the road, he’s probably coaching one of his kids’ sports teams. As a proud father of three, Scott is always on the go. His dedication to his children doesn’t stop on the field or in the carpool lane.
Scott loves nothing more than being at home, hanging out with his family, and cheering on his beloved Leafs. After years of disappointment, he was over the moon when they finally made it through the first round of playoffs. It’s the little things, right? When Scott’s not delivering steel roofing or coaching his kids, you can probably find him at home grilling up something delicious for his family. He takes his food seriously and enjoys trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
Meet Bryan, our in-house trainer who is passionate about two things: roofing and pizza! He’s been with us since 2008 when he started as an installer and has since become our go-to guy for training our new installers since 2019.
When he’s not teaching others the tricks of the trade, Bryan can be found spoiling his French Bulldog – his fur baby and the apple of his eye. He loves taking his pup on long walks and giving him all the attention he can handle. When it comes to sports, Bryan is a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He’s been cheering them on since he was a kid and still gets just as excited about the games as he did back then.
And finally, the thing that gets Bryan through the day? Pizza. He could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he could! So if you’re looking to bribe him, now you know how. Just make sure it’s the good stuff – none of that frozen grocery store pizza will do!
Meet Matt Snider, one of our star employees who has been with us since 2018. Matt brings 20 years of experience in the roofing industry to his role as Project Coordinator, and has worked on all types of roofs from flat to steel.
When he’s not working, Matt enjoys spending time with his family – he’s a proud husband to Sarah and a dad to two beautiful children, Evan and Hailey. Interestingly, Matt and all of his siblings were born on the first of the month, adding a fun twist to their birthdays! Matt’s also got some pretty awesome lifelong friendships going on! He’s still tight with four buddies from his kindergarten days, and they’ve got some epic stories to share. Matt’s strong relationships with both family and friends reflect his loyalty and commitment, qualities that make him an asset to our team.

Guy Letellier joined our team in 2022 as a Sales Coordinator, bringing with him a never-give-up attitude reflected in his long sales career.
When Guy isn’t at work, he loves to indulge his passion for fast cars. In fact, he’s been known to spend weekends tinkering with engines and attending car shows. But Guy’s interests don’t stop there – he’s also an accomplished drag performer who once (accidentally) won an impromptu drag dress-up competition and earned the nickname “Lucky Legs”.
Guy’s combination of dedication to family, a can-do attitude, and a fun-loving spirit makes him an excellent addition to our team. We’re proud to have him on board as a Sales Coordinator and excited to see what he’ll achieve in the future.
Tom Ware is the Owner and President of our company, which he started in 1988. He began his journey as a franchisee and later bought the company outright, dedicating himself to improving the entire roofing system.
Before entering the roofing industry, Tom spent 15 years as a butcher, honing his work ethic and attention to detail. He brings that same level of dedication and focus to his role as the founder of our company.
Outside of work, Tom is an avid outdoorsman and loves to spend his time canoeing, hiking, biking, and camping. His love for nature is reflected in his commitment to sustainable roofing practices and environmentally friendly solutions.

Say hello to Ted Glauser, our expert Roofing Consultant and self-proclaimed foodie. Ted joined our team in 2022, bringing with him years of experience helping eco-minded farmers produce quality nutrient-rich food. And get this – he grew up on a dairy farm himself! When he’s not up on a roof, Ted can be found in the kitchen whipping up a delicious meal (although he’ll be the first to tell you he loves to eat more than he loves to cook). He’s also a family man at heart and loves spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. Ted, we’re lucky to have you on our team!
Meet Glenn Cross, our Sales Manager since 2014. Glenn has been in the selling game for a long time, having owned his own bike shop when he was just 25 years old. He’s also a devoted family man, married with two awesome sons who probably get their love for hot rods and music from their dad.
Speaking of hot, Glenn is a self-proclaimed foodie who’s always on the hunt for the next big thing in the culinary world. He also enjoys long walks on the beach, but we won’t hold it against him that we’re not exactly near the coast. When he’s not out and about, you can find Glenn in his happy place – his wood shop, where he crafts beautiful pieces with precision and care. Glenn is a man who likes things in order, and chaos is definitely not his cup of tea.
Allow me to introduce you to the legend of our company, Chief Operating Officer, Wayne Shutsa. Wayne’s been with us since the dawn of time – okay, since 1993 – and rumor has it, he was so committed to his job that he actually came with the building! With over 40 years of marriage, Wayne’s seen it all, but still manages to be a family man at heart with three grandkids that he loves more than anything.
Although he’s not the most experienced globetrotter, Wayne can brag about one thing – his honeymoon in the Bahamas, which he still reminisces about like it was yesterday. With his charming personality and unwavering commitment to our company, Wayne is truly a gem in our organization. We’re so lucky to have him, even if we’re not entirely sure how he got here in the first place.
Malcolm Lindsay is a Roofing Consultant who joined our team in 2023. Before coming on board, he worked in both residential and commercial construction, giving him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry.
Outside of work, Malcolm is a passionate musician who loves to play guitar. He’s also an avid sports fan, both when it comes to playing and watching games. Whatever the sport, you can be sure that Malcolm will be there, cheering on his favorite team.
With his strong work ethic, dedication, and diverse background, Malcolm is a great addition to our team. We’re excited to see what he’ll accomplish in the years to come.
Emma Peterson is the newest member of our team, hired in 2023 after graduating with a degree in business marketing. She’s a lover of winter sports, especially snowboarding, and once did a backflip on a board (we’re not sure if it was intentional or not). When she’s not shredding the slopes, you can find her exploring the great outdoors with her furry companion, going on long hikes and soaking up nature’s beauty. Emma is eager to put her skills to work and make her mark in the sales world, and we’re excited to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish.
