Do you need to strip the current material off my roof?

The Hy-Grade Roofing System is designed to be installed over the existing roof. In most cases, the existing roof does not need to be stripped.

Will a steel roof be noisy in rain and hail?

No. We strap and install our materials over the existing shingles creating an extra noise barrier. A Hy-Grade Roof is a quieter roof.

Will a steel roof become damaged by hail?

Our roofing system is very strong and durable.It will not crack, chip or peel when struck by hail, unlike other roofing materials.

Will a steel roof attract lightning?

No. Steel roofs do not attract lightning. In fact, should your Hy-Grade Roof be hit by lightning, it may be safer than traditional roofing materials since a metal roof will help conduct and dissipate the electrical charge. In addition, a steel roof is non-combustible so it will not burn if struck by lightning.

Can a Hy-Grade Roof be put on an older home?

Yes. Due to the light weight of a steel roof, a "tear-off" of the existing roof is not necessary. Regardless of your home's age, our steel roof can add compliment your home's look and increase it's curb appeal.
